Task

Choose a model problem (political, social, natural, technical and so on) and try to find a prototype solution.

There should either already be a demand for the solution or an expectation for the need in the future.

Description

Project of the recyclable house is a reaction and an answer to an expected overpopullation and overpolluted planet. The only unpolluted areas on Earth will most likely be environments with extreme conditions. Those could allow enough space for a new beginning, which should be primarily eco friendly and sustainable. Chosen site is an arctic environment which is characterized by harsh conditions like extremely low temperature, strong winds and little or hardly obtainable resources. The project focuses on a design of a robot which could use materials and energy of the location and therefore limit the needed imported materials. Robot is designed to use a robotic arm and process of 3D printing. Energy comes from wind and it is used to produce the structures or to allow for basic function of the urban units. Structures are made of snow, which is melted and then 3D printed and frozen again. Shapes are inspired by igloos. Newly created structures are shells and cover for the next stage of inhabitation and creation of further spaces and rooms. Result is temporary habitable space that can be repaired and then recycled indefinitely.
