Task

Multi functional festival area that works throughout whole year. The general site location was predefined.

Description

The site is located just outside of Bratislava on a land which is currently mostly used for farming. There is an international highway exit, town roads connecting Devínska Nová Ves, Bratislava and Záhorská Bystrica, train station, few nearby public transport stops and  cycling ways. I have decided to place my festival nearby existing road and two river streams since I wanted to create a smaller water reservoir. Whole concept revolves around creating a leisure zone alongside the site so that when it is built up later on this festival area would connect it all. Therefore I am extending the festival area with cycling roads and walkways through whole site and placing a smaller second camping area further from the festival area.  The main festival area is divided into four main zones: parking, camping, cottage village and the festival area itself - stages, chill out zones, stands, exhibitions, etc. It can accommodate up to 10.000 visitors. Access roads are divided by vehicle types for ease of navigation and to reduce traffic problems. The festival area and structures within offer a range of possibilities of functional use. The main type is a stage which is formed as a grid shell. These are mainly used for big events and functions. The main stage has size of 30m x 30m and a smaller one is 20m x 20m. Both face either a big open area  for people to stand or smaller area with a tribune or other option for people to sit. Another structure is a tensile membrane pavilion. Two types of sizes are used: 20m x 20m and 15m x 15m. There are multiple throughout the festival area and have adaptable use. Predominantly it is a shading structure with a possibility of housing small events and functions. In both structures, the floor is not permanent exactly for the reason of adaptability and variable use.
